Tanya Cooper

Clinical Psychologist. Motivational Interviewing practitioner. Clinical Supervisor

I am a Clinical Psychologist with more than two decades of experience across private practice, hospital and community settings, and tertiary education.

My work is grounded in evidence-based practice and a collaborative, compassionate style. I support adults facing food and body image concerns, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and patterns that leave them feeling stuck. I also provide Motivational Interviewing training and clinical supervision for health professionals seeking practical, values-led ways to strengthen their work.

My approach is guided by authenticity and curiosity. I bring a relaxed, supportive manner to therapy and supervision, helping people build insight, self-compassion, and confidence in change. In my private practice, and in my teaching at La Trobe University, I focus on translating psychological principles into practical skills that people can use in everyday life.

Clients often describe working with me as clear, thoughtful, and practical. My aim is to create a space where people feel understood, challenged in useful ways, and supported to make meaningful change at their own pace.

If you are looking for support for yourself, or professional development as a practitioner, you are welcome to get in touch.
